Carrying on...

What a few weeks it’s been. As many of you know, we were struck by tornadoes 2 weeks ago in North Dallas and are still recovering. I’ve posted an update on my Reflection page today for you to see how affected we still are in my very neighborhood.

But as I said in my reflection, Keep on & Carry on. So, in that spirit I am sharing a look I wore in NYC just a week before the devastation. It’s a great example of mixing elements.

I wanted to put together an outfit that would be elevated but with a little bit of the unexpected. I pulled out this Derek Lam Sequin Stripe Mini Skirt and paired it with a white Wolford button down blouse bodysuit and thick black leather corset belt from Alexander McQueen. Since the skirt is approximately 16” in length and hits just above the knee, I wanted a tall boot for both warmth and to keep the “fit” a little edgy. This was a perfect excuse to break in my Christian Louboutin pointy-toe Sandrine Distressed Red Sole Booty (similar: here). The boots come in a few different lengths including an over-the-knee, and shorter ankle length but each are made with a black distressed lurex sock which hugs your foot and of course has the signature red lacquer bottom.

I packed my Pink zip-up long windbreaker from Target because I figured I’d need it for casual walks in the rain, but, It just seemed to call out to me while putting this all together and I love the way it works!

For jewelry, I’ve added a thick Elsa Peretti silver bone cuff from Tiffany & Co to my favorite everyday staples and I’m carrying a Saint Laurent Classic Sac De Jour Nano handbag.

Thank you for the well wishes and messages I received over the past few weeks. Recovery is slow, but we are all ….carrying on.

XO Kathleen
