Serendipitous Time Capsules
While visiting my son in Washington DC, I strolled past this inviting converted, 19th century Georgian townhouse with a great window display. Tucked away in Georgetown, Curio Concept is a super chic shop that carries a fantastic selection of elevated and unique pieces…and it’s designed like eye candy. Their mission is to make fashion and art gather in an evolving carefully curated retail space. They have succeeded. If you’re ever visiting Washington DC, I highly recommend stopping in.
On a rack close to 3 large gold hanging pendant lights, I spotted this Half Print Breasted Overcoat by Act N1. The intricate Japanese Crane print, asymmetrical tie front and contrasting beige wool backing are just a few elements that make this coat so lovely and sophisticated. I couldn’t leave the store without it.
I’ve paired the jacket over a purple and gold silk print Altuzarra blouse layered under my purple silk Oscar De La Renta vest and Burgundy wool and cashmere trousers from Clover Canyon. The burgundy and pink Manolo Blahnik pumps are and jewel encrusted Noir ring are a perfect segue that reinforces the merging of hues throughout the look
This coat is a serendipitous find that will be in my closet forever, and it has this sweet time-stamp of a weekend spent with my son during an exciting (and challenging) chapter in his life. So, I will always think of him, and this page in his history when I wear it.
Have a great weekend!
XO Kathleen
