What is your superpower color?

As I reflect on these last weeks of 2022, I am glowing with memories of the extraordinary joy I have been fortunate to expereince this year. There were beautiful family celebrations, 2 glorious weddings, and very precious afternoons spent fishing or on the golf course with my husband.

I also realized that more often than not, my color of choice has been yellow…and I am simultaneously tickled and delighted!

Color Theory has been a big topic of discussion lately and yellow is is one of the primary colors of discussion! Besides being absolutely invigorating, health experts believe that It stimulates our nerves, glands, and brain, making us more alert and energized. Yellow also boosts our memory, and it encourages communication, plus It’s a color that promotes activity and interaction! Studies show that people associate yellow with the sun and its life-giving warmth, positivity enthusiasm, enlightenment…..and …wait for it..….JOY!

Yellow is also viewed as a color with strong cultural and historical associations in China where it’s believed to symbolize happiness, wisdom and glory and also signifies one of the five directions of the compass – the middle direction. China is known as the ‘Middle Kingdom’ and the palace of the Chinese Emperor was said to be located right in the precise center of the world. In the traditional Chinese symbol of the female yin and masculine yang, yang is represented by the color yellow.

Fun fact…Yellow is also the color I wore on my wedding day in 2017.

I came across these photos form earlier this year in my favorite Sally Lapointe draped satin midi dress (a similar one is available here). I feel visceral joy when I put this dress on, and I think it shows in these images! I paired simple tonal flea-market-find necklaces, my workhorse yellow snakeskin Manolo Blahnik pumps and the sweetest Louis Vuitton canine themed change purse!.
