Maestro Valentino
The extraordinary craftsmanship that is synonymous with Valentino is just one of the reasons why I swooned when I first eyed the stunning dress that I’m featuring here today. Like many Valentino creations, I truly can get lost in the detailing and merging of textures and embellishments that are fused so intricatly and exquisitely.
It’s no surprise why Maison Valentino has stood the test of time while simultaneously setting the bar for haute couture for over 5 decades. I remember seeing the term “Valentino Red” repeatedly when scouring WWD and Vogue as a young girl and was fascinated by the glamour that was Valentino Garavani’s relationship with Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. The Mint caftan dress with jeweled detailing that he designed for her visit to Cambodia in 1967 is still breathtaking (and copied) today. The images of Jackie Wearing it, among all of the creations Valentino Garavani designed for her over the years are the ultimate of sophistication and elegance. If you love fashion as I do, I urge you to take. moment to check out the virtual Valentino Garavani museum online!
Since 2008, Pier Paolo Piccioli has taken over as the creative director of the design house and has upheld the exquiste standards set by Mr. Garavani himself. I recommend following his Instagram to experience all things colorful and creative….or to just live vicariously through his artistic adventure!!
The long sleeve embellished, multicolor sheath that I’m wearing below is an example of Pier Paolo Piccioli’s ability to fuse elements into ultimate beauty and style.
I’ve kept the details of this look to a bare minimum as I believe the dress speaks for itself. So I’m simply carrying a pink Fendi mini Mon Tresor bucket bag with accompanying “LOVE” shoulder strap and wearing Gray Manolo Blahnik open toe suede boots.
I hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving.
XO Kathleen
