Lounge Chic
Norma Kamali is one of the prominent designers of innovative fashion for women that hit her stride in the 80’s. Among her numerous merits, she was at the forefront of exaggerated shoulder pads which defined the decade, in addition to her elegant gowns that asymmetrically draped the female bais. Known as one of the leading female designers of our time, Norma Kamali is included in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Additionally, the red bathing suit that she designed in Farrah Fawcett’s iconic 1976 poster is on display at the Smithsonian Museum of American History.
The gold tone metallic high waist trousers that I’m wearing are a perfect example of Kamali’s playful, feminine approach to design. Adding a Burberry Amelie monkey print silk blouse and black fur YSL Bleach Mules helped create a “lounge chic” vibe that I was aiming for.
In another nod to the 80’s I added a wide textured crocodile belt which is resting low on my hips with a gentle tuck along with a Druzy Crystal with Turquoise Charm Pendant on a Link Rope Necklace from Parker Thatch and gold earrings from Tiffany & Co.
I’m in love with this elegant and fun “lounge chic” look. What looks are you leaning into this season?
