Balmain
It’s been a lovely Summer thus far filled with travel and work commitments. As I write this, I am preparing to depart for a trip followed by very committed August and September. In a blink of an eye, it will be Autumn.
The Balmain fashion house remains one of the names I associate with luxurious design and old world glamour. Pierre Balmain intended to study architecture while working in his Mother’s boutique in France after his father’s death in 1921, but instead sketched dresses before working for Altelier Edward Molyneux. In October, 1945 Balmain released his first collection with his eponymous fashion house at 44, rue Francois in Paris. His quick rise in popularity among the elite earned him the reputation of “King of French Fashion” as he dressed stars such as Ava Gardner, Marlene Dietrich, Brigitte Bardot, and Queen Sirkit of Thailand.
Oliver Rousteing joined the house in 2009 as a relative unknown that studied and worked for Roberto Cavalli before becoming the Balmain Creative Director. He is credited with restoring a finer French couture theme to the label’s designs. The Blazer I featured here in 2017 is one of the many designs I have purchased and lovingly wear.
This black sequin double breasted Balmain floor length gown is impeccably detailed with gold buttons and side welt pockets. (similar: here). I am draping a L’agencie Jayda double breasted houndstooth blazer over my shoudlers and for a bit of fun, my Prada Monolith leather boots with pouch.
My jewelry includes a custom pair of gold 3 tier layered drop earrings with a antique gold cuff bracelet mixed with an Hermes silver series 8 Apple Watch that my beloved husband gifted to me.
Wishing you a week filled with #onlyJoy.
My best,
Kathleen
